Teaching Philosophy:

The popularity of the game of golf has made qualified golf instruction a very important cog of the wheel in the golf industry.  The player looks to the instructor for guidance.  They come on to the lesson tee full of expectation that they are going to receive something special and that’s what we deliver, something special, an experience that can really be enjoyed. 

In my 20 years of being an Australian PGA member and qualified Henry-Griffitts fitter I have found communication to be the key to unlocking the success of the student.  Finding out what the student really wants to achieve out of each lesson and then delivering the answer for them.

I like to divide my students game in half.  50% technique and 50% equipment.  The technique half will involve video analysis, teaching tools, swing drills and making sure the student has the correct concept in their mind of what the golf swing should be.  The equipment evaluation involves Henry-Griffitts and only Henry-Griffitts.  Hg gives me the confidence that I can solve the students problems therefore I deliver confidence to the student.  My most successful students are hg players.

As a general rule there is always a link between a players ball flight and their equipment.   A player will have a preconceived idea where the ball will most likely go and they will compensate in the other direction therefore losing balance and accuracy.  With the correctly fitted clubs that preconceived idea disappears and the balance improves and the player improves dramatically.

Facility overview

Southport Golf Club is situated right in the middle of one of the most visited holiday destinations in Australia.  It is situated three minutes drive from Surfers Paradise.  Southport Golf Club is the oldest golf course on the coast with about 1600 members and is always in perfect condition due to the dedication of the green staff. 

18 hole championship golf course, driving range, two putting greens, chipping and bunker facilities makes Southport an ideal learning centre.
