Teaching Philosophy:

Steve believes in a holistic approach to improving your golf.  There are FIVE areas to be considered to improve your golf.

Ä       The technical aspects of your swing

Ä       Your mental and emotional skills,

Ä       Your physical attributes including strength & flexibility

Ä       Your On-Course management

Ä       The configuration and design of your equipment

Each area is important and certainly the Design of your Golf Equipment is vital to achieving success. The other FOUR areas can be on-track and improving however without a correctly designed set of clubs it will NEVER work on the golf course.

Equipment design – shaft length, shaft flex, iron lie angles, driver loft etc ABSOLUTELY affect how you swing and move when you are playing golf.

Ideally my goal would be to have your golf equipment as a NEUTRAL entity and removed from the list of areas to be considered.

Facility overview

Sanctuary Cove Golf Academy

Sanctuary Cove Resort is one of the finest golf holiday destinations in the world.

We have superb facilities that include 5 different coaching/practice areas, 2 world-class golf courses, an in-door computerised swing analysis studio and state of the art coaching techniques.

Please consider the following details regarding my Golf Coaching Programs:

Golf is much more than just hitting a ball. Areas that also require attention are: anxiety management, course management, how to practice correctly, stretching techniques for golf, configuration of your golf clubs, the thought process and much more.

During my programs we deal with each issue and provide you with work notes and printouts to optimise your progress.

Generally a mix of off-course instruction and on-course coaching works best.

I have two main packages that are very popular.

The two packages are based on a 28-week University course that I had previously conducted for six years.

The packages are broken down into:

  • Swing technique (all shots)

  • Special shotmaking

  • Anxiety and emotional control

  • Goal setting and planning

  • Stretching techniques

  • Golf club design (alteration and modification)

  • How the golf club affects your golf swing (which is substantial)

  • Course management

  • Thought level control

  • Rules

  • Advanced practice techniques

  • Practice and play methodology

  • Left, right and straight ball flight comprehension

  • Student self correction

In a nutshell, it requires time to work through the above topics. I have condensed the University course, which is 280 hours and tailored it to golfers of ALL levels.

I have everyone from professional standard golfers to rank beginners attending.

Ages range from 14 to mid 70s. This is not a "pound the ball on the range" exercise, so fatigue is not a problem.

Sessions are paced to the students needs and wants and their fitness levels.

Hitting hundreds of golf balls at a time simply produces fatigue and possible injury. There is a smarter way to improve your golf. I want you to go away with an understanding of your swing so that you become, to a reasonable extent, your own 'Swing Doctor'.

The packages include all coaching, detailed notes and printouts and on-course playing fees. Also included is CoachCam analysis, which is the world’s first Internet Coaching Website. Click onto www.coachcam.com.au to view a demo.

If a shorter package than the above is more suitable I can tailor a program to suit your needs.

We have massage therapists and physiotherapists on site for a relaxing massage at the end of the day.

We have a number of different practice environments which we change regularly though the day. This keeps the sessions stimulating and interesting.

For all of your golf improvement needs Steve Darmody can expertly guide you to being the BEST player you can be.
