Teaching Philosophy:

There are a number of areas you and your coach would be wise to consider as you develop your golf –

  1. Your learning styles
  2. What you want to achieve with your golf
  3. Your concepts about the golf swing and playing golf
  4. How to construct a repeatable effective swing motion
  5. Physical conditioning for golf
  6. Understanding ball flight
  7. Equipment that supports and rewards your golf swing
  8. Mental and emotional conditioning
  9. On course management of yourself and your game

There are three main parts to a golf swing –

  •  Body assembly and how it move throughout the swing

  •  Arms assembly and how they work in unison with the body

  • The golf club and how it responds in cooperation with 1 and 2

Learning to sequence the three parts throughout the swing –

  1. Body moves first

  2. Arms follow the body

  3. Club follows the arms

To refine the swing in sequence there are seven conditions (not positions) you pass through in motion –

  1. Stance
  2. Take-away
  3. Backswing
  4. Downswing
  5. Impact
  6. Follow through
  7. Finish

A golden rule to apply throughout your golfing life is always use clubs that support and reward your swing with great ball flight. Equipment dramatically influences ball flight; the design of your golf clubs is vital at every stage of your golf. If you are using ill-suited clubs you will always be practicing to develop a compensating swing motion and lack the consistency you seek. Have your clubs fitted by a PGA Golf Professional and continue with regular club checks as it is possible your clubs need adjusting as your swing matures.
